Southend United have acquired forward Ephraim Yeboah on a short-term loan from Bristol City. The young attacker joins to provide additional depth and speed to the squad as they aim for promotion from the National League.
The club confirmed the transfer through its official platforms on Friday. Yeboah brings experience from several leagues, having been on loan at Carlisle United towards the end of the previous season. He featured in seven matches for them, with one of those being a start.
Player profile
Yeboah started at Bristol City, entering their academy as a teenager. He received a first-team opportunity before the 2023/24 campaign and debuted in an EFL Cup victory. Subsequent loan moves included stints at Doncaster Rovers, Dunfermline Athletic and Bath City, where he netted his first goal at senior level.
Manager Kieron Dyer noted the player offers a different style compared to current forwards Harry Cardwell and Promise Omochere. Dyer expressed his pleasure at completing the loan, stating, "He’s really quick and wants to play on the shoulder of defenders. He’ll make our counter-attacks even more potent."
The signing offers support as Omochere regains full fitness. Yeboah will reunite with another Bristol City loan player, Joe Duncan, at the club, a factor he mentioned influenced his choice. The player shared his enthusiasm about the move.
Southend are currently second in the National League standings. Their recent performances include a mix of victories, a draw, and a defeat.
Yeboah may feature for the first time in the team's upcoming match against Eastleigh. The complete fixture list and updated squad details are accessible on the club's website.
