Georgie Kelly scored twice to salvage a dramatic 2-2 draw for Southend United at Carlisle United. His stoppage-time equaliser secured a point that manager Kieron Dyer conceded was a lucky escape.

Kelly opened the scoring for the visitors after just four minutes, finishing from a Daniel Ajiboye assist. Carlisle responded in the 83rd minute through Luke Chambers-Parillon, who converted a pass from Paul Omochere. The hosts then took the lead in the second minute of added time when Kieron McAdam found the net.

With the game seemingly lost, Kelly struck again deep into injury time, heading in a cross from Mark Feeney to complete his brace and snatch a point.

"Southend United boss Kieron Dyer thought his side were lucky to draw at Carlisle United despite conceding with the last kick of the game," he said.

The result extends Southend's unbeaten run in the National League to three matches. They sit third in the table with 17 points from eight games, having won five, drawn two and lost one. Their recent form reads WDWDL, with two wins and two draws from their last five outings.

The Blues' next match is a home fixture, following their 3-1 victory over Tamworth last weekend.
