Kyle McAdam has outlined Southend United's determination to keep their momentum going ahead of this weekend's trip to Carlisle.

The midfielder spoke to the club's media team on Thursday, with the Blues sitting fourth in the National League on 13 points after six games. Their recent form reads three wins, one draw and one defeat from the last five outings.

McAdam, who provided an assist in the dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Yeovil Town last week, emphasised the squad's collective focus. "It's about keeping the standards high every single day in training," he said. "We know what we want to achieve this season and that starts with being ready for the next challenge."

That next challenge is a long journey to Brunton Park to face a Carlisle side also looking to climb the table. Southend's last result was a character-filled victory, coming from behind twice before Paul Omochere's 85th-minute winner, assisted by McAdam.

With the team just three points off the top, the atmosphere around the camp is positive. The players are aware that consistency will be key in a tight promotion race.

McAdam's comments reflect a squad keen to build on a solid opening month. The trip north represents another opportunity to add points before a busy period of the season. Southend's next home game is against Dagenham & Redbridge on September 19th.
