Southend United Midfielder Seeks Redemption
Southend United's Leon Parillon is keen to repay the faith of boss Kieron Dyer this season. The Shrimpers chief has told Parillon he has the talent to become one of the top players in the National League.
Parillon brought Blues level with a fine individual goal at the weekend. He was pleased to work his way onto the scoresheet at the earliest possible opportunity. "I'm pleased and hopefully there are many more to come," said Parillon. "I want more goals and more assists this season so it was good and it got us back level."
The Shrimpers will look to build on the win when they host Scunthorpe United on Saturday. But last season's three setbacks against the Iron will not be on Parillon's mind. "The positive thing about this being such a new squad is that we don't really think about previous records or anything like that," said the midfielder.
Parillon started on the left hand side for the Shrimpers before featuring more centrally in the second half. But the 24-year-old feels comfortable in any attacking position. "I don't mind playing anywhere across the attacking area," said Parillon. "I just know what my role in the team is and I'll just keep trying to create and score."
The Shrimpers are currently 4th in the National League, with 3 points from 1 game, and are looking to build on their recent form. They will face Eastleigh at home on 2027-02-16, who are currently 8th in the table.
What comes next?
Parillon is still happy to be with Blues despite League One side Notts County wanting to sign him in the summer. "I'm pleased to be here and I'll focus on the next game," said Parillon. "The gaffer has said about what we want to achieve. We want promotion and we're going to try and achieve that."
