Southend Supports Mental Health with Charity Game
Southend football club is taking a step forward to support mental health care in the community with a charity game at Great Wakering Rovers' Burroughs Park home on Sunday. The match will see mental health support groups Run Free United and Andy Man's Club in action.
Why it Matters for Southend
The charity game is a way for Southend to raise awareness and funds for mental health care in the community. According to Chris Phillips, co-founder of Run Free, the game is a fun event with a serious message behind it. "It's going to be a fun game but it's one with a serious message behind it as we want to help try and improve mental health care in and Southend," said Phillips.
What Comes Next?
The charity game kicks off at 11am with entry courtesy of a donation to the fundraiser. Southend's next fixture is against Eastleigh at home on 2027-02-16, where they currently sit 13th in the table.
